Summer’s here, y’all!
And with it are warm temperatures, outdoor festivals and concerts. I love to rock a sexy shoe as much as the next gal, but there’s a time and a place for everything. Here are my picks for just about any occasion you’ll encounter this summer.
For a family get-together I love something like this Boardwalk Multistrap Sandal from Madewell. It comes in two neutral colors that go with everything you might decide to wear. It’s flat, so if you’ve got little ones to chase or need to help Auntie in the kitchen, it’s easy on your feet. And that criss-cross pattern and ankle strap give it just the right amount of sassy, fashion-forward design. This is one of my favorite casual picks for the summer.
Girl, if I’m going to a concert, I’m dressing up. All the way up. When I saw my girl Beyonce at the Rose Bowl a couple of years back, you’d best believe I was wearing some next-level footwear. For a concert I love this Bravani Platform Sandal by Jessia Simpson, you never know if you’re gonna get stuck behind someone in a hat. One tip: bring some of those fold-up Dr Scholl’s Fast Flats for the walk back to the parking lot. Laugh all you want, they saved my feet at the Rose Bowl!
Whether it’s for Fourth of July fireworks or some other event, I know I’ll be spending some time at the beach this summer. Don’t get me wrong, I love it there. But all that sandy, salty grit just isn’t for me. That said, neither are those cheap flip flops from Old Navy. For the beach check out these stylish slides by Crocs. I never thought I’d say something by Crocs was fashion-forward, but these slides do it all for me. They look so cute and I can just hose them off when I get home without damaging any pricey leather.
Other Outdoor Events
Now, just because you’re being sporty it doesn’t mean you have to look frumpy. Some of my favorite summer looks are casual. When my fiancé and I go camping or hiking, I still want to feel feminine and stylish. And to be honest, I think he likes that, too. If he wanted to be with his boys, belching and whatnot, that’s where he’d be. But I’m a lady and I like to show it. Check out these super-cute multi-purpose outdoor shoes by Hiitave. They come in all sorts of colors and styles, and are ideal for any outdoor activity. With these shoes you can still show some personality and flair even in the backcountry!
Now, I’m not one to show up a bride, but you have to bring your A+ shoe game to a wedding. I love a heel for this kind of occasion. They make my legs look great, and give me all kinds of confidence like these Vinnie Two-Piece Evening Sandals.
For the bride, I think a closed toe is the right mix between demure and sexy. And I like a little feminine touch, like the bowknot ribbon on this JIAJIA closed toe bridal shoe.
Another simple but elegant choice would be this Peep-Toe D’Orsay Evening Pump by Nina. It boost a comfortable 3″ heel that will help you get through the wedding as well as the reception. And of course, if it’s YOUR wedding, that’s a whole other article!
Date night is that special time of the week when I slip into a slinky dress and strap on a truly sexy shoe. During the winter months I have all kinds of fun with boots. This time of year it’s all about showing a little skin, even when it comes to the foot. I love a good peep toe, and I love a bright nail color on those toes peeping out, too. One of my go-to date night shoes right now is this ruffle-strap heel. Yes, I know it’s J. Crew. I was surprised they made something so glam, too!
