Ladies, I don’t know about you, but this cold snap has got me down. I was on the West Coast last week, shivering and watching my breath steam up in front of me. I’m on the East Coast right now, and it was 2 degrees out yesterday! Girl, as much as I love my boots by Ugg and LL Bean, as grateful as I am for their fuzzy warmth, sometimes it feels like it will never be enough. I am so happy to be looking ahead at previews of sundresses, Grecian gowns, short-shorts and most of all, sexy shoes.
With the spring comes time to flaunt what you’ve got. It’s the time of year when we all shed some of our layers and start to come out of our shells. We are, all of us, like those little marshmallow Peeps waiting to hatch out of a brightly-colored plastic egg. Spring is the time to get your mojo back. This upcoming spring season is going to be a real doozy. I was super excited to see how all of the bright, inspired looks from the Spring/Summer 2019 shows would translate to the footwear we all see in the stores. And, Girl? They did not disappoint!
One of my favorite shoes for Spring is this Osimoglit platform pump by Salvatore Ferragamo. The design elements of this shoe are all fairly staid and modest. The bow adds a touch of feminine style, but even that is a little bit tweedy. However, when this shoe gets out in the sunlight, it sparkles like no other. It’s a great look for a garden party, concert or art opening. And the platform gives petite ladies a great boost without being over the top. For a budget option with some sparkle, take a look at this Sitah rhinestone pump by INC, available exclusively at Macy’s.
For Easter, especially when it comes to church, something more conservative may be a good idea. But conservative can still be fun and a little flirty, if not full-on sexy. This Lenii pump is a good example of what I’m talking about. What could be more spring-y than this beautiful pale pink color? The heel is low enough to give you a boost, without going over the top. The straps offer a little flirty touch. And this type of pale pink color is one that really pops against my dark skin. The Mydebut by Nine West is another great option for this type of shoe, too. It adds a little more height, and the color has some metallic shine to give off, too. This is a youthful, coquettish shoe that doesn’t go too far over the top.
Finally, my favorite Easter shoe that I’ve seen anywhere is this charming Diara sandal. Isn’t it just darling? It’s classic, but the pastels and floral remind me of the 80s, in a way, too. This shoe isn’t just of this season. It’s something timeless enough that it can be a spring staple for your wardrobe for years to come. Another great floral shoe is this Saint kitten heeled pump from Tahari. The floral is so beautiful and Impressionistic that it has a timeless feeling, too. This is the type of springy shoe that Aunties everywhere will be wearing some version of this shoe to church this spring. And the kitten heel version would work wonderfully for young girls, too.
For day-to-day wear, Spring offers all kinds of great, bright colors. Working in New York during the winter, it can feel like you never see anything except black, camel and grays. When spring arrives? You can finally feast your eyes on some blues, greens and pinks. Prada is offering some very innovative new looks. These include the knit fabric pointy-toe pump. I love the contrast between the staid, knit grey and the bright pop of red. The heel, at almost 4 inches, is not for the faint of heart. But that’s part of the fun with a shoe like this. I expect to see this shoe on at least one or two editors this coming spring. Of course, most of us don’t have the budget for Prada. But this Dignity pump by Mix No. 6 is a great alternative in a striking bright blue.
Now, I know we’re all still fully in the swing of our New Year’s resolutions. So for athletic footwear, I love this FuelCell shoe by New Balance. Available in a bright, friendly blue, it really flatters my skin tone. I love to wear bright shoes with leggings that hit at mid-calf at the gym. Try showing a pop of color on your feet when you work out, instead of going with staid, old-school looks. You’ll be surprised at the compliments you get! My Payless pick for work-out shoes is the Activate by Champion.
I can’t wait for the spring to arrive. Can you? It’s been a long, chilly winter. I know that this spring I’m going to be happy to show off my feet and maybe even bare my shoulders again. What are your Spring 2019 footwear picks? As always, let’s have a chat in the comments below.
